Hi Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself, my name is Gemma Snewin and I am the brand new staff member at Wehl's Mount Benson Vineyards. I'm on board to fill the very large shoes of Jade Scott, who has started her family last week by welcoming her first child Amelia Ruby (8 pounds, 13.5 ounce) into the world on Friday at 5.12pm. Peter, Leah and family send their congratulations to Jade and partner Dan Watson, along with mine. I had the pleasure of meeting Jade for a job run through just before she left Wehl's Mount Benson Vineyards for family life and she gave me some wonderful tips, as well as making sure I keep Peter in line here in the office! (Thanks Jade!)
My role will be involving the marketing, cellar door and administration of the winery and I am very much looking forward to seeing some of the regulars at the cellar door for some serious tasting efforts.
Being new to the Limestone Coast area, a city girl fresh from Adelaide, I'm looking forward to taking "marketing" trips around the region for a bit of "research" on the wonderful food and wine I hear about. I moved to the lovely little town of Lucindale in October 2009 and have learnt some funny things about farming and country life, luckily I don't have my partner here to tell you the one about when I cried after hitting a rabbit and a fox all in one day......... don't laugh...... ok....... it was pretty funny!
Some fantastic news to hand today, our Wehl's Mount Benson Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 has just been awarded 5 stars in the Winestate Magazine coming out in May/June. Also our 2007 Shiraz earned 4.5 stars which is equally as fabulous. Peter and Leah were ecstatic to find out and we had a celebratory cup of tea this morning. So, keep an eye out for our future blogs, which hopefully will be much more frequent after Leah has officially handballed the Blog to me, as well as an improved online sales facility so all of you out there can purchase as much wine as you want very soon. Thanks again to Peter, Leah and family for welcoming me so warmly to Wehl's Mount Benson Vineyards and I look forward to working, seeing and tasting with you all soon.
Cheers,
Gemma
